Massive Dreams – Velsinger/Arendt

Part #1 of the choreographic series BODIES OF CAPITALISM

Contrary to the neoliberal formula – grow, accelerate, optimize – MASSIVE DREAMS expands the range of action for boundless bodies and pleads for the contradiction: grow to burst. Accumulate in order to distribute. Want in order to struggle. Out of a need for expansion, choreographer Antje Velsinger and artist Ayla Pierrot Arendt design massive and expansive bodies: How can we use these bodies to occupy spaces that expand in the imagination and realize massive dreams? In the polyphonic interplay of dance, stage and sound installation, Massive Dreams formulates utopian scenarios of expansion that the audiences ventilate.

I want to grow so that I can extend my legs and then my arms as well. I don’t want to grow because I can get by with very little. I want to grow and let it be in the middle…
